Life in New Smyrna Beach affords its vacationers numerous year-round beach activities including fishing, swimming, surfing, beachcombing, and sunbathing.  Visitors from around the world come to New Smyrna Beach because of its unspoiled, laid back beaches.  New Smyrna's beach is one of a kind, you will not find another beach like it in Florida.

New Smyrna Beach has a unique combination of a driving and non-driving beach stretches. Visitors can drive right onto the beach offering easy access to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Beach driving is allowed from 27th Avenue beach access north. Here are some tips to you having a wonderful beach day.  
  • Drive carefully and watch for pedestrians, especially children.  
  • Observe the 10mph speed limit.  Limit cruising on the beach, find a parking spot and enjoy your day.  
  • Conservation zones are marked with aqua-painted poles.  
  • Traffic lanes are marked with traffic lane signs.  Park your vehicle between the conversation zone and the traffic lanes.  Remember, double parking is not permitted.
  • Unless there are unusual high tides, driving is permitted on the beach from 8am - 7pm from May 1st through October 3st1.  From sunrise to sunset from November 1st through April 30th

Many enjoy New Smyrna's car free beach, which allows those families with small children peace of mind and ultimate relaxation.  The beach is protected from all traffic starting at the 27th Avenue beach access continuing south to the Canaveral National Seashore.  To enjoy these traffic free zones there are off-beach parking areas.
